The purp on the left was a seedling last year. The one on the right flowered this year. The left one has shown the fastest growth rate I've ever seen!

I'll continue the rest tomorrow. It's late, I have to get up early tomorrow, and Flickr is being frustratingly slow for me.

You're right - I do like your N. aristolocioides x ventricosa.

I'm curious about your P. cyclosecta x laueana. I wonder what color the flowers would be. Has it produced any? I think both parent plants have beautiful blooms but they are so different in color.

  • #284
I think he meant that the pot has cyclosecta and laueana in it. He used a plus sign not an x, but I could be wrong ??? if I am that could be a beautiful plant!

  • #285
The big one is P. cyclosecta and the two small ones are P. launeana. I might try crossing them now....
You haven't even seen the best aristo x ventricosa pitcher yet. It gets fatter!

You have some very nice sarrs and flytraps :)

Trapped bumble bee

S. psittacina "Green" not looking very green. That's mostly sun damage, so we'll have to wait a little longer to see how it turns out.

One of my mystery hybrids. Cool little stripes below the lip.

Ha! My mistake. I need to sit closer to my computer screen.

Those tubby little pitchers are certainly interesting.

  • #289
Apparently they only get better as it gets larger. They should have called it N. 'Chorizo'.

  • #290
Haha, N. 'Chorizo' I like those tubby pitchers. All your plants look wonderful. That is the fastest growing purp I know of, mine are so slow from seed; did it grow from seed outside? Love the color on that rubra pitcher!

  • #291
It's the fastest one I've ever seen, too. I might have a new cultivar on my hands. I didn't grow it from seed. It was saved from an herbicided bog before everything died. Mature pitchers were the ones that were intended to be collected, but I got all of the seedlings. That one is the most vigorous, hands down.
That possible new subspecies of rubra develops even better colors as the temperatures drop, just wait.

Love the colors of the aristo x vent! Very dark. And congrats on the ceph pitcher, looks fantastic.

It's an awesome little hybrid! Fat, dark, and nectary. That Ceph pitcher took forever to open.

looking good wireman, does the lorraine have boschiana as a parent?still considering getting a burkie am liking yours alot, your boschiana looks to be showing stripes on the peristrome something mine is yet to do

  • #297
N. 'Lorraine is singalana x boschiana. You can't go wrong with those parents! N. burkei is a nice plant, just as easy as ventricosa. I have a feeling the striping on the boschiana will fade as it ages. It has red leaves right now, which I find really unusual, so we'll see how it matures. Part of me hopes that it's the locality the produces those monstrous 40cm tall uppers, another part doesn't. It's such a big plant!

  • #298
Beautiful plants WM! How are the caroline purps doing?

  • #299
Thanks! The native purps are doing very well. One of the seedlings from last year will probably flower in the spring. It grew extremely fast! Hopefully I'll be able to cross it with another plant from the same site to get more of the genotype.

A little something extra, not plant related.

  • #300
I had one put up a fall flower stalk so some probably will flower next season.

Wow...spider was hungry!
