    Balboa Park Museums (PICS INTENSIVE!)

    And be warned - there are mummies in this! So if you're squeamish... get your pukey-bag ready. Sorry about my reflection... I tried not to get in the pictures, but sometimes the angle of the lights and the exhibit just didn't mesh

    oblig monet




    that was the upstairs of the museum... medieval stuff mostly from 1500-1800. I think it's called the museum of fine art or something like that. Here's the downstairs, art of North America I think is what the exhibit was called, followed by a good chunk of Asian art.

    the exhibit down the hallway that I wasn't allowed to take pics of It was more pretty medieval paintings








    So.. seeing as how it's right next to the tropicals greenhouse/structure, I wandered over to get some sun before heading back in for more..




    their CPs don't look so hot






    but the mossy/undergrowth stuff is doing ok


    cute bonsai they've got going




    aand all sorts of pretty plants I don't have the room for












































    they've got an aristolochia climbing all the way to the top

    a gigantic fern I want






    and off to the Museum of Man!







    (in front of some international museum)



    and into the museum we go..










    They had a peruvian pottery thing going on- a figurine thing next door too but I didn't go to that because I was museum'd out after this one
























    ..and back to the greater collection


































    and from this point on RANDOM GRUESOME BODIES AND STUFF SO AVERT YOUR EYES IF YOU HAVE A SENSITIVE STOMACH!! MUMMIES, DEFORMITIES and other gross oddities interspersed..

    Great photos! Thanks for sharing. Do you remember the origin of the 10th up from the bottom (wow, nevermind you posted more-I was looking at your first post with the small human-like head with long beard and some sort of wings? What culture? The art work is amazing.

    Here we go..
































    they have a whole room with timeline-dots showing various human achievements along the centuries..








    random biology stuff.. kinda the birds and the bees so I didn't give away the ending



    so just some cellular level stuff..



    random cave cuz they felt like it




    from up above those stones are still freaking huge






    and the gruesome oddities.. this first one is some sort of rheumatoid arthritis I think




    I didn't take a pic of the really deformed skeleton.. you'll have to come down in person if ya want to see it
