villosaholic
I did this thread in another forum for tarantulas and thought of bringing it here soooo.... If you could make any hybrid what would it be? Has to be possible, not like pinguicula x nepenthes. Should be something that doesnt exist as of now.
I would like to see:

N. villosa x inermis
N. edwardsiana x hamata
N. truncata x villosa
N. clipeata x villosa
N. (inermis x dubia) x (jamban x flava)
H. tatei x ionasii
H. sarracenioides x minor
H. parva x sarracenioides
H. heterodoxa x folliculata
H. sarracenioides x folliculata
and others....

I'm making it a priority to create this hybrid in the spring;

S. purpurea Chesterfield Co, VA x S. leucophylla Liberty Co, FL. The hood should be outrageously wavy with a huge mouth and lots of windows. Not to mention it will be extremely vigorous in almost any part of the US.

Others;
N. northiana x truncata
N. northiana x clipeata
N. northiana x spectabilis
N. clipeata x rajah
N. vogelii x alata "hairy red"
N. vogelii x maxima
N. burkei x northiana
N. eymea x northiana
N. eymea x jamban
N. bongso x veitchii
N. fusca x copelandii
N. platychila x eymea
N. platychila x spectabilis
N. stenophylla x spectabilis

S. jonesii x minor
S. jonesii x leucophylla

S. rubra var jonesii promoted to species status? didnt pay attention to that.

N.hamata x jamban

N.northiana x rajah

N.northiana x jacqulineae

N.northiana x villosa

N.bicalcarata x villosa

N.truncata x rajah

N.argentii x glabrata

N.aristolocloidies x northiana

H.ionassi x sarracieniodies

It seems that all the unique plants are the ones people want to see hybrids of :p What about alata x venricosa x (alata x ventricosa)?

I actually would love to see nepenthes aristo x hamata or aristo x villosa

S. rubra var jonesii promoted to species status? didnt pay attention to that.

Indeed it has been. It's separated from other rubras enough to justify it as a species. If you look at the shape and stature of the pitchers you'll see some major differences, mainly in the throat and hood.

N. Harryana a pretty rare natural hybrid, I would be so bummed if my SG eddies turned out to be that!

I like hybrids which include N. belii they tend to make miniature heat loving/tolerating forms of bigger and showier species but without affecting the pitcher shape too much if at all, so I'd like to see more primary hybrids with N. bellii and see what they become.

I think it would be awesome to have harryana. Does anyone even have one? I don't like complex hybrids but this would be cool:
N. villosa x [(hamata x edwardsiana) x diatas) x (Truncata x villosa)]

edwardsiana x truncata 'king of spades (or maybe king X queen with eddy...)

edwardsiana X rajah

attenbouroghaii x rajah

the above ones could only be created with BE's clones...

N.( X Aeneas) x ( X Trusmadiensis) x ventricosa (assuming my vent X Trus will flower )

i dont know if it's possible, but:

Drosera Capensis X Madagascariensis

Someone forgot to mention the ubiquitous rafflesiana

N rafflesiana x villosa
N rafflesiana x edwardsiana
N rafflesiana x rajah

In my opinion, rafflesiana x hamata wouldn't be so much of a great cross since both have rather similar colouration and as we all know, most if not all of hamata hybrids have reduced teeth on their peristome.

That being said, how about ampullaria? :-D

N ampullaria x eymae
N ampullaria x 'one of the toothy neps'
N ampullaria x rajah

And of course, the list goes on. I think that the best possible hybrid would be one that's beautiful AND fairly easy to grow. Crossing a lowland parent with a highland parent should produce a hybrid that's tolerant of many conditions.

*PS-I wonder what's happening in the depths of EP's labs now :suspect:*

Last night I was thinking about:
N. ampullaria x hamata
N. ampullaria x villosa
N. ampullaria x inermis (i know, crazy)

So many possibilities. Off top of my head i'd like to see how the following nepenthes would turn out:

"Queen of hearts" x rajah
"Queen of hearts x jacqueliniae (on phone so forgive spelling)
"Queen of hearts" x hamata
rajah x jamban
Lowii x jamban
Rajah x veitchii
Rajah x ephippiata

Taking just the "weedy-ness" of D. capensis with any of the harder to grow Drosera...say falconeri? But it would look just like a D. falconeria too :p

What about the weedyness of capensis with a N. villosa :-))
