Class 5 Nepenthes hoarder
I know this is a little off topic but a asteroid the size of a football field will skim by earth (200,000 miles close) in about 1 hour. This is closer than the moon is to us and doesn't happen very often. The asteroid is darker than coal and can only be seen with a 6 in. or larger aperture telescope.

You can watch it here as it flies by ( http://events.slooh.com/ ). In an hour slews telecsopes will fire up and view the asteroid. This wont happen again until 2028, so consider this a rare opportunity!

(sorry for the short notice, its moving quite fast)

Thanks, Lance. This website is really cool.

Thanks for the link! This will help those of us who are covered in rain right now to witness the asteroid. Hopefully!

Where is it on the web page? Will we be able to see it with the naked eye?

there is telescope feed on the webpage given that tracks it as it flies by

I dont get what im watching....

its just a bunch of stars for now but they are trying to track it down im guessing...

Not really much of a sighting, but the best they could do.

Yeah that was pretty anti-climatic. But at least it didn't impact!
