Alas, the only f/1.4 normal lenses i have are Minolta and there is a loss of image quality or infinity focus with the adapters for Pentax bodies. My sister had a Pentax 50mm f/1.4 lens but she gave the body and lens away to a friend long before I acquired a Pentax DSLR. I have the box for the lens which has a list price sticker of $145. I heard these one person paid $395 for one. Crazy!

Bwahahaha! Now you have to get a 58/55/50mm f/1.2 lens. The most sought after is the Minolta 58mm f/1.2 MC Rokkor-PG which is renown for its creamy bokeh. The 50mm f/1.2 is sharper but the bokeh is inferior.

    See http://www.rokkorfiles.com/Battle%20of%2050s1.htm

Since the image register is 0.2-0.5mm difference don't expect to find a cheap glassless adapter to use a Minolta MD mount lens on your Canon EF mount bodies. There are several sources that will sell or install a precision replacement mount. These are reversible and the original Minolta mount can be reinstalled. You can also get a replacement mount for the Canon body but then you could only use Minolta lenses unless to reinstall the Canon mount. Minolta lenses should not be used on the full-frame Canon bodies as the mirror will strike the rear elements of the lens. You could shave down the mirror.

    Some recommended mount replacements/services

Some other Holy Grail lens in the Minolta pantheon are the 35mm f/2.8 Shift CA Rokkor and the 24mm f/2.8 MC VFC Rokkor.

Hope you win big in a lottery/sweepstakes so you can afford these lenses.
Grand Hotel... always the same. People come, people go. Nothing ever happens.

I had no idea that you could change the mounting system on the camera! I had looked a little into changing the mounts on lenses that generally wouldn't work without an adapter with glass (Minolta and Canon FD). A f1.2 lens would be nice, but they are expensive. A quick look turned up a few around $600. I'm still trying to win the lottery..... Thanks for all the info NaN.

    Thanks V!
