Photos from the Clackamas County Master Gardener's Fair visit, LOTS of pics!

Brie

Sarracenia freak
This fair was AWESOME!! The most plants i've seen in one place ever. LOL. Anyone in the PNW, it is worth the drive to go! It apparently happens every year, and is bigger each year.. There was a pretty big variety of plants available, pots, planters, yard art, etc.. And so many native plants and flowers!! And it was fun meeting up with a couple other locals, Bluemax and Mato. :banana2:

I ended up coming home with:

1 adult drosophyllum
2 pots of D. prolifera
2 different types of Corkscrew rush to add to a bog bowl/pot
2 different ssp of Fritillaria (chocolate/checker lily)
1 blooming Fairy Orchid (Calypso bulbosa)
1 Oregon Fawn Lily (Erythronium oregonum)
1 Big Camas Flower (Camassia quamash
and a baby Tiger Abutilon tree

And now for pics!

BlueMax and Mato.. Mat is thrilled to be there.

My wife wants 5 of those bats. LOL. That is so cool, I have got to try and find some epic fairs around here. We really need some more cool stuff to decorate the front of the house/front yard with.

Camassia quamash, which apparently you can eat.. Its tuber was eaten by local natives, and supposedly tastes like yams only sweeter.

We have one of these two hours away at a botanical garden, they are awesome! All the plants!

I gotta say what everyone else did - Why can't we have something like that here?!
I know the farmers market in Pyuallup has some nice plant vendors but nothing like this!

haha.. she caught me right before I was about to leave. Was feeling the pangs of no breakfast.

Man.. sorta wish I had gotten that jack in the pulpit.

  • #15
Awesome! I think that purple plant ur mom got excited about was a buddleja of some sort, looks like purple haze which is a cultivar that was developed by my current undergrad research advisor Dr. Dennis Werner. And the jack-in-the-pulpit after that is Arisaema sikkokianum, the Circumcised Jack-In-The-Pulpit. Probably my favorite one, only behind Arisaema urashima, the Dominatrix Jack-In-The-Pulpit :D
