and then back home through the conservatory

their one good pitcher because after getting placed there, they slowly start looking crappier and crappier (like my plants )

and a whole pot of mimosa pudica

I only shot a pic of one orchid.. I guess the others just didn't feel photogenic

Those archerfish are awesome, did they spit at you? :P
I think the bird you meant was a Victoria Crowned Pigeon, still lots of pretty toucans/aracaris/toucanetts.
Thanks Nope, no spitting. The top of the water was turbulent now that you bring it up though

And yes, that's it! I didn't see them.. I hope they're OK and just relocated. I looked for them in their usual tree but they were nowhere to be seen. And yes.. but somehow despite it being as early as the zoo opens, everything was still sleeping/hiding Maybe I was too early.

Great thread. It's like going on a guided tour of the zoo! I really enjoyed all the pictures. I especially loved the pics of the hippos swimming underwater. The water in the hippo enclosure at the Honolulu zoo is usually kinda cloudy so you can only see them if they smash their faces up against the glass!

Thanks Actually, I did it no justice. This was the luke-warmest tour you coulda gotten . If you're ever in San Diego, it'll take a good 8 hours to well and truly really go through everything. I just sped through in 3 hours and totally ignored things like the herp exhibit, all the big cats, etc.

Zuzana, nice effort in crossing that foot-bridge again -- so very far off the ground. My only complaint with your post was the marked lack of photos (heh, heh).

    Holding back are you?

Roul rouls! I love those little things. Our's are going to have babies soon, if they can keep the eggs in their nest. I need to get back over there again. Sucks about the glare in the Guinea turaco photo. The big blue birds are called great blue turacos.
