WIre Man's Field Andventures

Wire Man

Sphagnum Guru
I plan on doing a lot of field work in the next few years, so I decided to start a thread for the photos and such.

Okay, these first few photos aren't in the field, but they were taken on a trip that involved field work.

Very nice! Look foreward to seeing pics from your future trecks :)

We're not UNCS we're NCSU or NC State, or NC State University. Also, great pics and I'm really excited for our future field adventures.

I swear I'm partially dyslexic..... More pics will go up tomorrow.

Nice photos of orchids and tropicals. Is Q9209494 some sort of club moss maybe?

Looking forward to pics of the adventures.

It's a something starting with a C lycopodioides.

Actual field photos will come tomorrow.

It's Crassula lycopodioides or something like that. also, those pics of the plants outdoors were taken at the JC Raulston Arboretum.

I don't remember names for stuff like that easily....

Whoa! Look at that Agave flower. That is awesome.

I was waiting for an orchid expert to chime in.

The Green Swamp. We went to meet with Mason's rare plant class, but we went early (sun was just beginning to rise when we left) to check some other areas out.

First, D. intermedia

pretty exotic flowers--i caught myself asking "are those orchids?" hahaha. flowers are almost up to par with those if not already there. thanks for sharing!

Great plants, especially the Sarrs! And if that's a snake ring in pic 6, love it!

  • #16
always a pleasure to view your in situ pics

  • #17
We thought those flowers were Liatris, but they weren't. Closely related though. I got that snake ring in Mexico in a small mountain town called Taxco. So much silver......

We then went to this roadside to look for some plant we never found. I did find this, red Sphagnum and a capillaris I didn't see until reviewing the photos.
