I got it and the black vent. hybrid from ... a friend ... in exchange for the Aldrovanda in the pondarium he's watching for me.

    Duplex done.

....orrrrr not. I just looked over and saw that there is a sizable gap by the door. Drat.

Well, anyways, here are pictures of the latest modification. I realize now that I have a real problem: too much Sphagnum. I need to identify the various colors and forms first before I start thinning it. In the meantime, it's all in the brightest spots I can give it to help it color up.

    LL

The tag says its N. ventricosa. The spots say something else. I'll wait for the pitcher to color up.

It's ventricosa. The common red form typically gets these spots and marking on it, though they often get faded out by background color.

Sounds good. It's the second ever vent I've ever admitted to liking. Ssshhhhh! Now there are three: this one, "Porcelain" and that BE one, something with a fancy dark peristome. I have on my currently-in-pieces computer.

I fixed the gap, and there is a big bottle of water in the freezer. It won't be ready for tonight, but will tomorrow. Time to somehow locate my thermometer. Or just get a new one. For the LL side I was thinking of installing a small ceramic heater. With a GUARD! I've already had a personal close encounter with one, melted skin is NOT fun.

Who can have an update without pictures? Not me, not today.

    N. amp. Brunei red x harlequin snuck up a basal.

    N. robcantleyii is *finally!* recovering from a long bout of aphids.

Really lousy snap grab shot of the U. longifolia showing off it's long leaves.

Wow, that was fast. The taller Neps on the LL side already have tans. Lookit N. truncata x Viking, wow!

I know, there are quite a few plants that look pretty crappy. This is because they spent a while under a single CFL. This new setup will change that. The updates I am posting are to document those changes. I already have a coue stubborn plants showing signs of wanting to pitcher.

This week I got eggs for some ephemeral crustaceans: giant seed shrimp, beaver tail fairy shrimp and two different color forms of Triops cancriformis. I put the seed shrimp in a water cup to try first, these I have had some success with before. They're going to go into the water basin under the plants. This will, of course, rule out pesticides, I'll find a workaround. I'll let the shrimps build up a decent population before I start the Triops because they'll eat the shrimps.
