Hey Everyone,

I just got back from Toronto today, and I figured I would post some pics from the zoo. I decided to try flickr this time around, so please tolerate my ineptitude if they links don't work...

I guess that's more than a few... :p I didn't realize how many there were. Oh well.

Hopefully the flickr worked, and I don't need to label them. Hopefully....

Thanks for looking!

Gabriel

Omg Hedwig?!

But seriously, great pics. Love the polar bear.

Ah, the giant gourami. Ugliest freshwater fish in the world.

@Tog, who's hedwig? And thanks!

@Wire, I quite like them. I find their face appealing.

That pic of the toucan gave me chills. The tree boa and golden lion tamarin are other favorites. May I ask for a new desktop?

Gracias.

Indeed, which would you like?

Very nice, Peat!

There are so many! The toucan and coiled tree boa if you please.

Wow! Love the toucan, eyelash viper and that veiled chameleon! In fact, they're all pretty spectacular. Nice work!

Thanks guys!

Just a bit on the technical aspects:

Taken with a Nikon D5100 and a 70-300mm f/5.6 VR (the VR makes a huge difference)

The indoor ones were shot between 1/60 and 1/40 depending on how slow the animal was and how dark it was. Most of the exhibits were really dark, so I was mostly shooting at ISO 320. The photos were really dark, so I brightened them in post editing, of course. :p

The outdoor photos were all fairly standard. Easy shooting.

The bat photo was interesting. I decided to use a vintage 135mm F/2.8 to maximize the available light, which turned out to be good, except it was manual focus only. I took about thirty photos and that was the only one that turned out. It was shot at about 1/40 and ISO 1000, which is why it is so grainy. Overall, not a great pic, but an interesting one to try and take.
