Why is it there's so much news about these plants? First there's sundew mucus helping heal wounds, then some Utricularia (can't remember which one) has something about getting rid of 'junk' genes, and now a Nepenthes bicalcarata has made friends with a species of ant. What is with these plants???

This type of info has actually been published a number of times. It's likely so few people know about these interesting details that it has to circulate a couple hundred times before it becomes common knowledge.
Everything has a reason, whether big or small. Never underestimate the power of what is or is not.
There is far more to everything than meets the eye.
