    LACPS meet!

I love going up to the LACPS meets cuz I get to go up and meet up with Not a Number, so I headed up today to go say hi! Usually I bring some stuff up, but I had to go empty-handed today because nothing I've got in propagation right now has the proper amount of roots. The meet was at UC Fullerton, at Ed's Greenhouse, which is always a delight. Lots of people brought lots of stuff for show, trade and sale. Here's my pics:

You can tell it's gonna be good when you see the bananas on the approach to the greenhouse.

    pineapple!

    A lovely cephy growing contraption:

    Everyone loves a nice flava

I think these are all pups/heads on one nice red brom

Ed's purple passionfruit gave me the inspiration to try to grow one on my balcony too. If it does ok in LA, it'll probably do ok for me, right? Mine came back this year too

    Papayas

    Fiery peppers

    Poor ugly little regular houseplants

When I grow up, I hope my 'behind the shed random weed plants' look this good! (and nice wheelbarrow too!)

Cinnamon and Cardamom in the back there.

    The back Nepenthes house:

a closeup of that nice bloom

    Couple of tall Amorphophallus

    Raffles!!

    Peperomia from Columbia I think

    Oops.

I wonder why I feel so hot?

Back in the main greenhouses again--

There's all sorts of cute things hiding out, like a little ginkgo here or there

    This flower:

...is on that stalk that looks like a tree, but is actually an orchid, in the walkway:

    Propagation corner!

A collection simply is incomplete without U.bisquamata

    And also incomplete without roundandstickya

    and scorpioides

    and an infestation of capensis

Why can't my VFTs look good too :'(

    A tray of capensis

..had to circle back on those nice flavas. I'm sure they'll get darker as the summer progresses, but they look amazing freshly sprouted too.

    Brave little fly

Just look at those ruby lips

Somebody brought in a Cobra to show off:

...I'm totally not jealous. Nope, not me.

People brought all sorts of cool stuff

    Ping flower pics!

    B.reducta

Leaning tower of scorpy (they make aerial roots)

    Nice red filiformis

    "members plant area" for show/trade/sale

    Off to the Orchid house!

I wish I still had cacao trees

Miracle fruit (that one that turns sour -> sweet)

Yup, I def. do miss my cacao

    Vanilla

    Between the sets of greenhouses

    Those purple shamrock flowers:

Back to the main greenhouse for the end of the meeting--

    Tilly flowers

And someone brought Emu eggs to sell! I thought I was successfully going to leave a plant meeting without having had purchased anything, unfortunately..

    YAY!

They've got mosquito-fish in the pond in the main greenhouse, of course.

One last walk through of members' displays:

    So satisfying

On the way out, you pass a good pile of cacti

    and those bananas

It was a good meet. I hope I can make it to the Huntington meet in June

Nice! Wish I could have went. I like the Sarracenia minor, and those scorpioides look crazy!

No cp collection nor cp heavy show is complete without an infestation of d. Capensis.
The profile pic that you see above is my actual photo. I am a hyper-intelligent snake that has learned to use the internet and I will eventually rule you all.

    Just kidding..... Or am I?

So many photos to sift through....and that is one HUGE Amorphophallus! Gee, my konjacs and dunnii pale in comparison.....
Out of curiosity, it's not a fertile emu egg is it? That is one funky color.

Once again, Zuzana, why the paltry numbers of photos?

Quite the odyssey! Certainly makes me wish I had been there to see it all.
