After reading Tamlin's articles in the drosera forum, I did a search on yahoo about damping off, but I am still wondering about some things. How longs does it take for seedlings to die from damp-off? Also, when does damp off occur, when the seedlings have just sprouted, or can it also occur later?

It can happen to seedlings at any time, but small seedlings are the most susceptible, since they have not "hardened off" and new tissue is easily attacked by fungi, especially at the roots. When they go, they go fast in my experience, like overnight.

    Unhappy

Is damping off always fungi, or do you call all sudden die offs damping off? Like I had a bacterial collony wipe out a good chunk of my typical cape sundews.
