Is perlite dangerous to any CP's at all. Particularly Nepenthes I heard that after a while you must change you soil mix if it has perlite in it because after it has a while to age it starts to emit floride or florine. Is this true or is it a lie? Thank you nepenthes gracilis

I have not heard that one. We do not change our soil out that much. Maybe once a year OR just when it gets 'funky'
Ok I thought it was fake too. I however will wait for a few more responses.

I have never seen any problem in the las 15 years i have been growing Nepenthes or Sarracenia's. I have seen some species not to like inorganic medium such as perlite or vermiculite such as N. Judith Finn and S. Pupurea.
I grow plenty of N. x Judith Finn (spathulata x veitchii) using perlite in the mix with no trouble whatsoever. They are all very healthy. I have never had any trouble with S. purpurea with some perlite in the peat mix either.
Hey folks,
I grow nearly all my cp, except for very tiny ones, with perlite. I think it's great for aerating soil. It can get rather hot in the summer for my potted cp outdoors and perlite is great for getting some air penetration into the mix. Osmunda fiber works well on larger plants also. I only add perlite to the botton half of soil for smaller plants, though, because it can distract from the beauty of a tiny plant. It always seems like rain washes the perlite to the top, however...
Cheers,
Chris
Thanks everyone I will use it regularly as I always do! I just take precautions to my beloved plants and true friends. Okay so I'm a little wierd and deeply attached to them. Nep.G.
