Nope. This isn't about the Listserve. Nor is this intended to overshadow the good deeds and hard work MANY other people put into this forum. There are TONS of people to thank for that...everybody from admin, mods and all the contributing members. All you guys and gals are just fantastic people!

This is about letting YOU know you are more than just a fictional name "Tamlin"....that you are a very real and valuable human being (under ANY name) who has made a mark on many people's lives that goes beyond just giving someone a plant. The internet is the vehicle...but the people are real and the impact is real, as is the respect and love of those with whom you share yourself, your talents and beliefs.

I know you have made a difference in more lives that just those who have and will post here. The "giving ethic" is only a part of it. You can't help but think that all the respect, sharing, caring, encouragement to experiment and goodwill will spill over into all aspects of people's lives. It is no small thing!

Its not about ego or thanks or credentials...just want you to see that sometimes what looks small and insignificant can be more meaningful in someone else's eyes than your own.

Our view of ourselves is often fogged by self-doubts. For everyone, just remember...its not so much how we see ourselves that counts...but how others see us. Just as there is a "ripple effect" in the sharing of plants, there is a "ripple effect" through our lives into others as well.

As a friend of mine used to say..."Do good and avoid evil."

So all you folks reading this topic...share your thoughts so William the Lionhearted will have a testimonial like the Cowardly Lion. lol

OK. Hi Phillip, if you're coming out of the ground hog hole to attaboy me, that's good enough for me. Thanks all, for the warm thoughts. 5 feet of snow in 36 hrs.: from here on they'll call me Tamlin Doubleshovel, or possibly Dr. Tamlin Doubleshovel.

Now how about deleting this post before it embarasses me. I already know who my friends are, you know.

I'm late on this post but must say that William is kind and eloquent and the world could use more like him. Bringing Phillip out of his ground hog hole is no mean feat in itself Keep shoveling man....Spring is on the way and then your "air potatoes" will be too.

I'm late too for this post, but I insist to write something about it:

Tamlin is the oldest 'cp friend' I have still contact with (I unfortunatly lost contact recently with Chris F. with few of you surely known, which was the very first cper I've ever met), and never fail to put some joy in my hobby. He is gerenous (don't believe in that thing called money), hilarious and have a heart as large as his knowledge. It is always a pleasure to read his posts.

I want to keep it short, but I think he manage to help to edify the donation/giveaway community we can assist on this forum (Too bad I'm in Canada eh?). Btw, congratulation to all who contribute to this!

I just hope to shake your hand one day William, on a fieldtrip (in your area or mine?), or at a ICPS conference :P

Tamlin is super awsome. He can ID any sundew and is really nice, can explain things simply for beginers and scientifically for people who ask why a lot?(like me). He helps sped rare plants and works to ensure proper scientific names. He has really pretty plants, and never talks down to people... I don't know, I just think that Tamlin is a super awsome cool person

Ooops,

I guess my focus is often kinda narrow, but I just noticed this thread.

Tamlin watched me step over the threshold into his world and then made me feel at home here. I will admit that I spent many years as a voyeur of other peoples experiences with CP as I am a recluse at heart. But when I joined the PFT forum (TerraForums) I met Tamlin. Since then we have shared much, of life and plants. I often speak on the phone with him until late at night for my time zone, he seems to be rather a night owl, as I am on the west side of the USA and he is on the east... We have discovered that we share many beliefs and experiences, especially where it concerns CP. I must say that without his support and encouragement I would probably have snuck back over the threshold and returned to watching the CP world from a distance. Now I know that my purpose in life is to spread the word about CPs and encourage others to make their life's purpose supporting CP -- while others of our kind are destroying their habitat by daily bulldozing and paving them ever closer to oblivion.

Thank you William for your example of caring. For your sharing of these beautiful creatures, whom, without the compassion of some, would be at the mercy of the majority. Please, don't ever stop being there. . .

Good growing,
Joseph
