It's my first try with the macro, I could have gotten much closer but I didn't want to get Drosera goo on my lens!

Nice pic NG.  Very healthy plants.
Yes, you can get really "up close and personal" with the C-750.
Here is one of my favorite photos I took with my 750...a filliformis red pigging out.

Nep G, that's a great picture! Now I trust you'll treat us to a constant stream of photos? Oh, and you've gone and set the bar pretty high for yourself already!

Hey folks,

Tony, yah, they better be good picture thingys...for the pirce thingy I paid!
smile.gif

Nick, I know what you mean now! I just took 55 photos on SHQ resolution setting while I was down in Jamestown/Gerry, NY. I still could take another 50 or so photos! That 256 MB card was sure worth the $80!

Buckeye, my camera has Super Macro mode which allows the subject to be at least 3cm (1.2 inches) away from the lens. I like to use a tripod and the remote control when I do use S. Macro because the slightest vibration or movement makes the focusing and positioning of the camera a waste of time and ruins the exposure.

There are attachments you can buy for that camera that lets you get to 3 mm i think

I think theres a nikkon coolpix that lets you get that close without an attachment... but its one of those 5600s or something... costs 1K I think

Dustin,

Can you PM me with where you got the 256 MB card for $80? I paid ~$70 for a 128 MB card, although that was 5 months ago and prices drop quickly.

Be careful about what you buy for the C-750.  Olympus uses a propritary XD picture card which is not compatable with other cameras.  The XD is much smaller.
Go online and shop around, you can get 256 XD cards for about $60 + $5 shipping.  It really makes me mad that they charge that much for shipping something that is smaller than a postage stamp.
By the way, the 750 can get as close as 1.6" without any additional lens and has a fantastic (10x) zoom.  There are some pics on my PFT album site
http://www.cpforums.org/gallery/album01
that I took of the Blue Angels from at least 5000' and they turned out fairly good...had a little trouble getting them to slow down.

Hey Lauderdale, what are you saying about the cards? I only buy the Olympus brand xD picture cards.

  • #19
Yeah, my statement was not very clear, too much sun over the weekend.
What I was trying to say was; the Olympus and the newer Kodaks use the XD card and I was just trying to caution you not to accidently order the old style memory cards.  The price of an XDs is a bit higher but are coming down quickly as it is becoming the new industry standard.
