Canon Powershot G2 ( but there are better models that came out made by Canon such as G3)

Olympus C-770 Ultrazoom. Macro focusing down to 2cm. 10x op zoom. 4.1 megapixels, amazing rich detail.

A review is here for it. http://www.steves-digicams.com/2004_reviews/c770uz.html

Other brands I would suggest ae Nikon (specifically the 990, 4500) Canon brands and Minolta.

I use a Olympus 750. It has 10x zoom, super macro mode and a "hot shoe" for auxiliary flash, which is a necessity if you are serious about any low light photography.
Some of my pics are at;

http://www.cpforums.org/gallery/album01

Click on the photos once for large size and once again for original size. The pics show the macro capability. Check out page two and you will see the capability of the 10x zoom. The shot was taken hand held and the planes were well above ten thousand feet.

Got two. Olympus C730 and Olympus C8080.

Excellent cameras. Olympus is reknowned for its sharpness of the picture. The 8megpix one is excellent for macro shots but it's heavy, so a tripod is a must.

As you can see, there are many Olympus fans here.

I also use an Olympus C-750 Ultrazoom, for its super Macro focusing no need to carry an extra supper micro adaptor, and standard AA size batteries, no headache over flat batteries, unlike those that use special shaped cells.
