Monkey Study

Whose job is it to make the monkey porn? And can the other scientists ever look him in the eye again?

A moderator did, to prevent the conversation from traveling further down the path it was going.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion.

Want to know about perverted apes?  Read into bonobos (Pan paniscus, though I wouldn't necessarily call it being perverted...) and Homo sapiens.  The latter definitely wins.

you know, I do have to say this... I don't find this objectionable enough to lock, but I think we should all think about our forum titles before using them. If you were a mom logging on here with an 8 year old to study CP's, what would be your reaction to a topic titled perverted monkeys?

Seriously...

my thoughts, I won't lock the topic, but let's please let it sink.

Why not simply change the "General Discussions" page to "General CP Discussions" then? To me it seems this page has caused the most turmoil on PFT.

you haven't been around very long then if you think that! This is light weight stuff... if you feel the need to discuss it, let's pm?

I'm not talking about this thread, I'm talking about the previous ones that upset people due to belief differences etc. (by page I meant the forum, sorry). This is lightweight stuff compared to the political and religious battles we've had in the recent past.

I agree, it probably has, but communities are not without their disagreements. If you would like to continue discussing it, let's PM.

I didn't like the topic from the first time I saw it. I read the topic and I was all ready to delete it. Since I am open minded I, I read the article before I made my mind up. The article was fine, but some of the discussion was not, so I deleted some of the posts.
I still didn't think the title was ok. I think the easy fix here is to just change the title. So I did.

lol... I didn't think it was bad at all but I'll keep it in mind next time.

There is nothing wrong with the word. The problem is that the owner of these forums wants TerraForums to be a place that is safe for people of all ages. This should be a place where a 7 yr old kid can come and learn about CP's. What if a child's parent or teacher looked at the screen and saw the topic Perverted Monkeys. They'll think that this may not be appropriate for a child of that age. Some schools have filters that will block out a site that has words like that.
That's why we need to be careful of some of the topics and language that we use here.

7 year old aren't legally allowed on forums... I think the age is 13 and over. Perverted is a pretty PG-13 word...

  • #17
What law are you refering to, and who enforces it? The Tween police?

  • #18
What makes them preverted? you are applying a cultural belief of what is normal and acceptable and what is not. they are just reacting naturally to the signals they see, they may not even realize that they are only looking at pictures, they could believe the images are real, but thats a whole differnt topic. so why were you considering the monkeys preverted?

dont think so, Kirkcoastalcarnivores(Kirk) was 12 or younger when he joined, and I was still 12 when I joined.
But I still think 7 is a bit tooo young.

we do not enforce an age here. look, it all comes down to whether or nto the topic title is in keeping with the spirit of the forums, it wasn't. there is nothing wrong with the word per-se, but the fact that it IS associated with concepts that petlyftrap and terraforums do not want to put forth. Were not knocking you or the article, we are taking a open minded stance on this and erring on the side of caution. what is so hard to understand about that?
