apple rings.. what more can i say?
Well, as most of you know, I've been home schooled since.. well, ever.. on the DVD program where they send you DVDs of the classes along with textbooks, tests, quizzes, etc. Anyhoo, I'm going into public high school this fall when I go into 9th grade, mostly because home school is really starting to bore me. This is more complicated than it appears. We had to talk to someone about whether we should do the achievement test all the homeschoolers take (it's like the FCAT) at the end of this school year along with the test I need to take to get into public school or if I should just take the latter. We're still not sure if I'm gonna take the acheivement test or not, but last week we went to the local middle school and talked to a counselor about the tests I was gonna have to take there before I could get into high school this fall and she gave us a couple booklets listing the courses and electives for all four years. I spent about three hours looking over that that day. Anyhoo, earlier today we went back down there and I took the math, reading and IQ tests I have to take to see "where I am" at this point, and the results haven't come back yet, but what we know so far is we got the tests done at record time, I have a few holes in my math skills (knew that), and I'm above average on language and reading skills. After that, me and the counselor looked over all the courses and electives available for 9th grade and I got all 8 credits listed, so now I know exactly what's gonna go down next school year. I'm taking the basic 9th grade courses and several electives... Applied Mathematics 1 & 2, English 1, Integrated Science 1, Personal Fitness and Health/Life Management Skills, Weight Training, Pottery (had to take something in Performing Arts, so I picked the easiest), Computer Tech... I think that's it. Anyhoo, I may or may not do dual enrollment (where you can take two years of college classes while in high school).. I need to find out how much extra work that is, because, call me lazy or unacademic (because I know I'm both), but if I have to devote my life to twice as much work, I'm not dual enrolling. I also need to figure out whether or not I'm going to college eventually, because I need to go to a police academy at some point or another, and I still haven't figured out whether I'll go straight to that or go through college first. It really depends, I don't know yet. Anyway, if I do go to college, it will be University of Florida, and to do that, I'd have to move to Gainesville, which isn't even in the same county, which is gonna suck, because I really resent the idea of moving to an area I've never even been and not knowing it at all, plus moving away from my mom and the few friends I do have. I'm sorry, but that's just an issue with me. Anyhoo, so that's what's going down in my life.
