    As Samuel Hahnemann died in 1843 it's very unlikely he discovered homeopathy in the late 1800s , and homeopaths dilute stuff a lot more than that you claim.
    Some homeopathic medicines (such a a popular one for influenza) are diluted to 200C. The final product in these bottles, if prepared according to the label, would contain the following percentage of active ingredient:

    I think the Amazing Randi went after a televanglist trying to promote 'miracle spring water' back in the 80s. Funny, I just saw this guy (Peter Popov?) hawking this on the tube the other night. It is free...but they hit you up for a 'donation'.

    The brain is very powerful (especially within the body lol... directly anyway).
    Did you know there's an opposite to the placebo effect? I think it's nocebo? something like that... where instead of getting better because you think you will, you get worse or there is no effect because you think you won't, even if you are given real medicine.

    Late 1800s early 1800s it doesnt matter. I studied homeopathy for a year so I am telling you now there is such a thing as 1x 5x 10x and 30x potencies which are actually often used. x means it was diluted in 9 parts of solvent. Stronger potencies are most often used for problems of the mind to taper any physical effects it might have. If you hear otherwise, it might be a scam. Also if you ever hear anyone say this will cure you for that cold, that is definatly a scam unless you have been given an examination by yourself or someone else. It doesn't usually work if you prescribe it that way. Homeopathy is all about treating the patient as a whole. Many bona fide and well thought out studies have been conducted and shown that homeopathy is more effective than placebo. Usually much more effective. The whole idea is that the body needs only a small nudge to kick start its own defenses. If you practice homeopathy you do not usually take a remedy unless somthing does not heal as fast as it should. lthough it will always speed up the process.

    It does matter, because medicine has advanced out of all recognition since the late 1700's when homeopathy was invented. Then, homeopathy was seen as an progressive alternative to applying the theory of the four humors and a lot of leeches.
    Ask yourself, why aren't homeopathic medicines tested to the same standard as any other drug on the market? The answer is simple, they don't contain any detectable active ingredient to test.

    That is just not true. No such studies have proved any such thing, in fact I can point you at any number of studies that conclude exactly the opposite. If anyone had shown homeopathic remedies to be effective don't you think that the likes of Glaxo Smith Cline would have jumped on the bandwagon and be churning the stuff out by the ton? After all, why spend millions researching new drugs when you can sell a product no-one can distinguish from distilled water?
