Help me cool my greenhouse!

Hey guys,

My greenhouse is around 6x6x6. During the summer here, it can get over 100F and the greenhouse just doesn't stay cool. Many of my plants were killed in it once the warm weather it. I didn't have the money for a cooler(high school student here...) so I moved what I could inside.

Anyways, can you guys help me pick a good cooler? My budget is around $300...but I can be a little flexible if need be. I'm mainly a nep keeper, so more highlandish conditions are desired.
I could really use some help here, I don't really know exactly what I'm looking for. A specific model(like, what would you pick?) would be the best help.
I hope I don't sound too ridiculous.:poke:

Thanks!
Andrew

Hello! I live in Tucson Arizona where it gets pretty dang hot... (130f) but we also have very low humidity (usually single digit humidity But rarely over 30% except for monsoon season or the odd storms passing through)
I run a 8x16x12 g/h and use this cooler:
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=215791-420-MMB12A&lpage=none
using this thermostat:
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=155861-420-CC2000
For your size green house, I bet this cooler would work great using the same thermostat system:
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=114854-420-MMB10A&lpage=none

If you know anything about swamp cooler systems you know you need lower humidity for them to work well... And that mastercoolers have thicker pads so the air touches more water therefore does better cooling. Really though, for a g/h that small, the small cooler above would probably still work great, but more so as a humidified air venting system.

Good luck on your research!

Thank you! Thats exactly the answer I was hoping to get, fits perfectly in my budget too. I've favorited the page for both the cooler and thermostat, and I'll probably be buying them.
You've really done me a big favor here. Hopefully I can get back into this hobby now! Weather is great for growing neps right now anyways.

PS- Another Andrew eh? What a coincidence. :rookwoot:

I like to consider me the "only" Andrew here. hahahahaaaaa The thermostat thing is pretty easy to hook up too... if you've ever done anything witch electronics. There are others you can get from g/h supply places that just put power to the electrical cord on and off.. but with the thermostat it prewets the pads before the fan runs, and runs the fan after it shuts the pump down to dry the pads a tad before shutting the fan off to prevent algae from growing on the pads. Also, it automatically switches from high/low fan depending on what is needed :)

I'm not telling you this is going to provide highland conditions though!!! you're probably going to see 20-45f drop pending your humidity... 10-20f if your humidity is higher... (here with it 120f outside, the air right out of the cooler is usually about 75f for reference)

Highland conditions or not, I'd imagine it would give me suitable growing conditions for most plants, which is enough for me. Humidity here in the summer probably won't rise above 30%.

It should work fine for you then... I even managed to grow a heli this summer (cutting, it now has a new pitcher!) You just place the "cooler" stuff in the path of the breeze. Cause it will run a lot. On sunny days mine runs all day long. So in the breeze, you're looking at 70f somewhere... and on the outskirts close to 85... (with thermostat set at about 85f...)

nah- they really don't cost that much to run... compared to AC.
