I usually wait until at least 3/4 of the pitcher is dead - even then if there's a lot of pitcher fluid, I may forego cutting it.

I know I should wait, since it's probably still feeding nutrients to the plant. But I can't stand the thought of the ugliness of a dying pitcher. It's a curse..

Wow! Everything is looking superb ;) I just love that cute N. aristolochioides. Your GH looks like a dream.

YAY!! I've been waiting so long for general GH pics! Everything looks great.. Can't wait to get the outdoor GH built so I can follow in your footsteps.

Man, your neps are so awesome!

Wow fabulous! Just an absolutely stunning GH. Again I feel inadiquate LMAO! Such a lovely GH. It must be nice to keep a cool temp GH like that. Here is SC it can easily get up to 110+ in the GH when temps are pushing 100 outside. How do you keep things cool? Or is it not that hard in Cali? I have never stayed out there more than a day passing through.

/weeps with joy
Oh, everything is so beautiful!

Beautiful neps and cool GH. Is your xTM the clone 1 from BE or from AW?

  • #377
Thanks Mass! Your GH is nothing to sneeze at! You have some gorgeous plants too! :)

Liz: Next time you're in California I'll be sure to give you the penny tour and send you home with a nice nep. :)

JB: My GH would reach 110 if I didn't have a cooling system. I use a swamp cooler that serves double duty: It helps keep the GH cooler (though still it reaches high 90's during the worst days.) I also have a solar fan that helps get some of the hot air out of the GH so it can be replaced with slightly less hot air from the vent on the side.

Zhilin: Both of my Sabres are from EP.

Thank brokken for the info. Do you use a wet wall of an actual free standing cooler? I would like to build either a cooler or a wet wall in my GH and have been going back and forth on which to do. Any stories on your experiences would be wonderful.

I'm still building my GH and plan to expand it this year if the funds look ok. Definitely need to recover it already. Till it is like I want it I'm not spending the funds on GH Polly or pollycarbonate. Again your GH is fabulous. I love the licen and I think I am going to copy you and change to terra cotta pots with the trays. Love the moss covered pots.

Feel free to toss in some of the licen when you ship out the quid pro quo neps. :p

 'slightly less hot air' haha!

Yeah I have that problem when it gets 100 here.. the best I can do is run chilled water through them that has been sitting inside where the AC blasts at a chillier 77F and hope that evaporative cooling does a little something too.
