As far as I know there's no article on this yet, its just been spread around by word. Either the acidity of the coffee adds more PH to the soil which helps the Nepenthes, or micronutrients contained in the coffee are absorbed by the plants roots. I've noticed huge gains in leaf sizes from 2 inches to 8 inches as well as an increased speed in the plant it self. All you need is some very dark rich coffee to pour on the soil with and then wash the soil out a few days later with water. The affects usually start taking place the second leaf after the coffee treatment.

In addition to growing plants, I design and build RC planes powered by Tesla batteries. Check out my progress at www.chargedplanes.com

Not sure if I ever gave you the locale for the ascendens, so here it is for your records:

    D. ascendens (Serra de Ponta Grossa, Campo Largo, Parana, Brazil)

You say dark coffee? Darker roasts typically have less caffiene and the darker the roast, the less the caffiene. I wonder if this plays a part in it.

I may have to give this a try some day.
