Class 5 Nepenthes hoarder
Thought I'd start a new thread since I just got a bunch of new Nepenthes with a veitchi k on the way and a veitchi candy striped not too far behind.

Heres some pics of the HL chamber with its new fogger which hopefully won't die... as you can see its gotten pretty jam packed so if anyone knows where I can get square pots that would be great :).

The chamber:

Front side

Robcantleyi getting some color on it after one week of opening... my camera one second later died so thats why the pic is blurry but you can see the lovely cherry colors :)

<a href="http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/?action=view&current=DSC_0015-4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/DSC_0015-4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

N Jamban pitcher about to open... pardon the fog layer ;)

<a href="http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/?action=view&current=DSC_0016-4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/DSC_0016-4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

This one's for you Brokken! N. spathulata X (veitchi X maxima) seed pods are going along nicely... they are getting bigger than the failed pods.

<a href="http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/?action=view&current=DSC_0018-4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/DSC_0018-4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

N. spathulata basals going nuts after their coffee feeding

<a href="http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/?action=view&current=DSC_0020-4.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/DSC_0020-4.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

N. lowii X truncata with the latest pitcher... not the best in the batch, but its a good start after its repot ;).

<a href="http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/?action=view&current=DSC_0077-2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/DSC_0077-2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

N. eymae X (stynophylla X lowii) X TM with the latest...

<a href="http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/?action=view&current=DSC_0072-2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/DSC_0072-2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Looks like the coffee is doing some good... I was worried the N. thorelli X TM "8 of clubs stalk would stall and die... but if this lone basal rose from the ashes, then I guess theres some hope! ;)

<a href="http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/?action=view&current=DSC_0022-6.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/DSC_0022-6.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

N. (veitchi X lowii) X boschiana

Thats all for now! Leah wilkerson babies and Lowlander Nep pics coming soon!

Nice plants Lance! Thanks for sharing pics!

yep pretty awesome dude!

Those are some good looking Neps :)

very nice look forward to seeing the veitchi

Did a search on coffee to see what I could come up with... Came across this thread again. Looks like coffee is doing wonders for you!

Which "blend" of coffee do you use? I used Colombia coffee and got mildly flavored, tea-colored water. What kind of coffee did you use to get such results?

Well I use Peats coffee, house roast, ground....thats literately all it says on the bag. Even with the creamer it tastes bitter so if you find some and start making I suggest stopping when you taste it and it tastes awful bitter... I use it on all my arriving Nepenthes and they start putting out big leafs like they didn't even move. I've even done it on my Jamban so I really don't think the dosage of coffee in this blend will be much of a threat unless it's expresso. Also, sees the thorelli X TM "8 of clubs" basal up there? Before I fed it coffee that exact basal had died and the viner shoot was turning black really fast. Now the basal has "rose from the dead" and the finer shoot is putting up leaves again.

Big update! Just got a big N. lowii X campunalata female cutting in the mail along with a N. euschaya purple female cutting and a N. hamata. . . I also got a N. X predator cutting about a week ago along with a N. venticosa X inermis cutting...

Due to the space complications, all of the plants have been reduced to 6" square pots.
<a href="http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/?action=view&current=DSC_0114-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/DSC_0114-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

The N. lowii X campunalata chillin with the euschaya in the rooting mix. . . hopefully I can get these girls to flower

Looks like the pitchers are a little light starved... time for a tan :p

The N. X predator cutting with the N. ventricosa X inermis. . . Im getting really anxious about the predator . . . each day I think I see more yellowing in the leaves, but nothing has really happened in the past few days. ..

Although the new cuttings and hammy are good news, the bad news is that I have to train my parents to care for the Nepenthes for two weeks! Wish me luck!

Okay, so I scroll down to see the jamban and my mouth drops. Then I scroll further down and see the wide, open mouth and I think, "Campy?" so my mouth drops again and to my surprise, it's a lowii x campy... I was actually considering buying one myself. How fast do they grow? Slow? Fast? Are they true intermediates?

The ones I was thinking of purchasing are probably 3-6 inches in diameter, I'm still waiting for a response from the vendor.

And I thought you had a kick-arsch GH? What happened? Am I remembering it incorrectly? ???

very nice lance! I wouldn't worry too much about the predator right now, it is common for old leaves to yellow, as the plant can't really support all of them. Hopefully it is contrationg its energy on the node, which seems to be activating!

Everything else looks quite healthy :)

To tell you the truth, I have no idea how fast lowii X campy grows because I just got it today as a cutting... from what I can see it does grow pretty fast because this cutting is about 3 feet across and is just about to start making uppers. Yes, they are true intermediates so they should LOVE your conditions.

I still have the greenhouse but Highlanders have really been my interest since they are so cool... there are a few interesting lowlanders, but to me every highlander is interesting in some way (which is why my HL chamber is so packed!). Also, the plants in the GH are in recovery now from "who knows what" and since there aren't as many plants in there there isn't a lot of updates to make for it. I will be getting some cool raffelsianas and what not in the future, but for now I just gotta get the plants back to health before I go to work at a Tissue Culture DNA lab to hopefully learn to TC rare Nepenthes seeds.

Found this pitcher yawning open when I walked into the HL chamber this morning... I just had to take a pic

Sigh... a few days ago the N. lowii X campy's enormous 10" pitcher had to be cut... oh well, it was beneficial for the cuttings survival :(.

Hard to see, but the N. X predator node is swelling... Woot woot!!

Updates!! A little anxious to see what all these inflating pitchers will turn out to look like, but I will be gone for two weeks so it's always good to compare and take some last pics.

N. X Predator node... Im really getting worried about this guy especially since I will be placing him in the hands of my parents for two weeks... can anyone confirm if the node has swollen more?

<a href="http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/?action=view&current=DSC_0243.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/DSC_0243.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
So far I've noticed that the rapidly dying leaves will stop blackening once they get about an inch from the stem and just stay there... Im assuming this is good?
<a href="http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/?action=view&current=DSC_0246.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/DSC_0246.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

Lil' hammy just popped a pitcher... this one should look colorful in the next two weeks

New arrivals!!

N. Macrophylla BE . . . Sure took me a good amount of work . . . but it was worth it!

<a href="http://s1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/?action=view&current=DSC_0281.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1222.photobucket.com/albums/dd495/Lance_Plater/DSC_0281.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

N. raffelsiana brunei X (X Trusmadiensis) no pitchers yet, but I can't wait to see them!

:bigthumpup:great looking macro

Thanks all ^^

The macro cost me twice the amount of a "microphylla" from AW. Still, I just couldn't get a microphylla. They're so small and very fragile and it would take at least 3 years before you could even see their teeth.

Thought I'd share some macro my macro pics I took since Im on vacation...

Gotta love the yellow hue on the lil' guy. Also pretty fuzzy too.
