    Greetings,

I was in Lowes yesterday and noticed that they carry 48" 60 watt "high output" bulbs, but they don't have any of the high output fixtures in stock. However, they said they can order some in, and today I'm going in for a price quote.

Has anyone used or seen these fixtures? Are they any better than the standard el-cheapo 40 watt fixtures?

    Any help would be appreciated,
    Brian

I haven't used the HO fixtures or bulbs. My 55gal terrarium has 2 4' regular fixtures with cool white bulbs. The plants are fine. However, if you wish to grow certain colorful varieties (e.g., VFTs) or have you plants growing further from the lights/in a larger growing area, you may wish to go with the HO option.
