Better late than never! Glad to have you aboard. I applied for a job at Texas Tech a couple years ago but ended up staying in Kansas. My sister lives in Dallas and I know that Lubbock is like ten hours south of there. My dad used to joke when I was applying at Tech that Lubbock is not at the end of the world, but you can see it from there!

Thank you for the welcome, xvart. Actually, Lubbock is about 6-7 hours west of Dallas. It's in the panhandle. And yeah, you probably can see the end of the world from here since it's so flat!

You're welcome. I just realized something... aside from the Buddy Holly thing, several years ago, in another life, I did travelling with an environmental company and a bunch of us flew into Amarillo and drove through Lubbock, on our way to the Panhandle of Oklahoma. Anyways, we stopped to eat a touristy restaurant called, "The Big Texan". Ever hear of it?

Yes, I have heard of it but I can't say that I've eaten there before.

They've got this deal whereby if one can eat their 72 oz steak and all the trimmings, the meal is free. I opted for this platter thingy and had a bunch of breaded/fried things - rattlesnake, buffalo meat, rabbit, frogs legs, and Rocky Mountain Oysters.
