lithops

Ok, so I have a lithop that has new growth coming up from the center. My question is how do I know if it is reproducing? Will the old sides shrivel and die, or is it just on its way to getting bigger? I've seen many pictures on other sites that show lithops having new growth and getting overall bigger, but how does that happen?

mine did that, and started to flower in 3 days!

It depends, did the new growth open up wider than normal?

hmmm... what is normal? The sides haven't seemed to rip like they have done in the past.

I bought these lithops from a street vendor, having no clue what they were, just thought they looked cool. I don't know much about these plants except for what I have read on this forum, and some minimal other reading on these plants.

sorry, well-uh huh that's different. It's normally like closed, but if it's open, it's gonna flower
