    We thru out a bunch at work, so I bought one for fifty cents (not allowed to just take trash)...

    What do I do with it?

    It's Gloxinia. [img]http://www.**********.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif[/img] They're a member of gesneriad family, which includes Saintpaulia--African Violets.

    If the tuber is in good shape, you will be able to get new growth easily. I plant mine just below the soil and water well.

    Unlike VFTs you can grow them from leave cuttings put into a small jar or glass of water with almost 100% success.

    I have a red one and a purple flowered one. The red flowered one has a leaf span of ~18" and the purple one is ~9".

    I don't pamper them with misting or a tray for humidity and they still grow like weeds. [img]http://www.**********.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif[/img]
