    Does anyone know anything about this hardy, flowering tree and know where i can obtain seedlings?
    that makes no logic

    Common Name: Red Hawthorn
    Scientific Name: Crataegus mollis L


    Description
    Leaf: Alternate, simple broad leaf, up to 10 cm long and nearly as wide. Leaves are ovate being broadest near the base. Short-pointed at the tip, with a coarsely toothed margin occasionally with shallow lobes. The leaves are densely hairy and have a stout hairy leafstalk.


    Flower: A showy flower five with white petals up to 3 cm across.

    Fruit: Spherical or short oblong 20 mm in diameter. Slightly hairy with dark dots. Red when mature, fleshy but dry in drooping cluster. Juicy edible pulp with 4-5 nutlets


    Twigs: The twig is moderately stout, sometimes with stout spines often thornless. Smooth or slightly hairy with white hairs when young.

    Bark: The bark is brown to gray becoming deeply furrowed and thick with age.

    Form: It is a small tree less than 9m. It has wide spreading crown. Trunk up to 36cm.

    Uses: The wood of this tree is heavy, hard, and dense. The Latin species name also refers to the Downy Hawthorn.

    Distribution: Southeastern Canada to Minnesota south to Alabama through Oklahoma.
