E. nocturnum photos...

Hello Friends,

Finally, I've managed to catch my Epidendrum nocturnum in full flower. A rare Florida native epiphytic orchid and as the name implies, it usually opens at sunset and remains open throughout the night for one night only.

Pollination is usually carried out by a certain species of nocturnal moth. The flowers exude a strong vanilla scent.

Happy Growing,

Brian.

Different looking flower shape than we're used to seeing.
