    I've been watching this orchid (purchased in Hawaii thru eBay) for the last month or so as it initiated a spike with bud. Inch by inch the spike unfurled and grew...and now the bud is close to opening (I expect in the next day or two). I took some bud photos tonite as the precusor to the main event!

    Here is a painterly version of this beautiful paph in bud.

    Once it has opened I will put up pics with name (its a complex hybrid). I hope it blooms true to the picture I saw of it.
