Soon to be Plant order!

MasterGrower

not really...
Hello,
I got an Honor Roll at school so my dad is going to buy me a few cp's.
I'm planning to order a S. Alata, S. Flava var. Rugelii, and S. Leucophylla from Andy and I was wondering if anybody here had any experience with any of these plants. I would appreciate if anybody who grew these plants had any pics to post of the size that Andy offers.

Good job getting Honor Roll. That's what it's all about... don't forget that.

As for the plants, you can search the forums to get all the info you need. They are quite easy starters. I know Andrew (and maybe some other members) posted pictures of the rhizomes/plants here some where...

I have a 4.0 gpa, I am not eligible for the honor roll though because I am a freshman I have to complete a school year first.
Congrats welcome to the parents buy you plants club. sarracenia are not tropical they will need a dormancy during winter. They don't need high humidity and they grow well in full sun and a 50/50 mixture of peat moss and perlite can be used for them.
Andy sells nice plants but since sarracenia can get tall and also because it's just the beginning of growing season, your plants are likely to have haircuts.

MG,

I have actually purchased all the plants you listed from Andy and they all arrived in great condition and well packaged AND they were much bigger than you might expect them to be for the price. you cant go wrong if you order thru him(flytrapshop.com), most of my collection is thru him! :)

dm,
he's got new triangular boxes that allows him to ship some pretty tall plants. its like 2 ft tall.

Thanks for the replies :) ,
I've never seen triangular "boxes" though it is a good idea to ship tall plants.
billyh, could you post pics of when they arrived if you can?
Thanks,

Looks like the topic is pretty well covered :) I'll just add the following:
Billy- I even have larger boxes if needed :D hehe I always hated getting sarrs that had been cut. So I'm doing everything I can to not have to do that. And so far, I haven't :)

Andrew

edit: I don't have any current pics of just what you asked about.. but here were some camera phone pics I took randomly just the other day.

Thanks Andy for the pics, I see some leucophylla's and Flava's in the first one. I think I'll make the order tommorow. :)
BTW, do all the sarrs have pitchers? I too hate getting pitcherless plants. :)

They all have at least started... but not all of them are completely open yet.
Take care,
Andrew

Well, shouldn't this thread be in the sar forum because he is only planning to get sars?

Also Andy, when are you getting some new neps of flytraps? I have been checking and it only looks like you added some sars and pings. :-(

I forgot to go to the sarr forum since I had been browsing the General Disscusion for a while.

Well it's in the sarr forum now so you're off topic hehe I did make propagations of other VFTs but it was winter so they're slow to grow. Most are dime size now. Since it is warmer we'll see how it goes from here.

The perspective throws it off a bit, its in a 6" pot but here is my S. minor from Andrew I got in last Thursday. The pitcher on it are about a foot tall.

Wow!
That Minor is huge!
Is it the Okeefee Giant?
That pic in Andy's store looks so much smaller.

Once you get it, you'll never get out.

true to that. i thought once i killed my first vft, i'm doomed for eternity with CP's, but now i have more than 50 capensis seedlings(its getting pretty annoying now spending 1$ for 2 gallon of water every week and walking home with it.) right now i have more than 60 growing CP's if you count the capensis seedlings, i have like 6 VFT, more if i divide em up 3 sarracenia(i think my dana's delight is about to die :( ) and the flytrap i got from andy is looking very good now, when i got it it was winter, so i thought it was bad quality, but it was just dormancy, it kicked back and now is the best flytrap in my little minibog pot thingy. d.filformis that i got looks like a square when i got it, now it all uncurled producing dews and looking better than ever.

and are you really 10? wow, alot of younger people here
