My family has gone fishing at three sites in mid-northern Ontario for decades. I have noticed over the past several years a PROFOUND evolution of some of the sphagnum bogs. Old fishing pics until several years ago show mats of sphagnum covered with S. purps and D. rotundifolias. We started noticing about five years ago that the bogs are all starting to become dryer, the carnivorous plants are dying/receding, and woodier plants are starting to take over. This includes the bogs we walk past as we portage to other lakes. Basically, all of the great old purp bogs we have been seeing for years are terminal. Has anyone else noticed this?
