Most expensive Cephalotus

Most expensive Cephalotus?

Surely this has got to be the most expensive Cephalotus... http://tinyurl.com/y824qrr

Current exchange rate: 603.00 GBP = 926.958 USD!

</td></tr></tbody></table>

Whoah... more than 600 bucks... I would have thought a species that got that high would be on the cites list or something.

Well that is 900 USD, 600 GBP. It is the most recient Ceph cultivar and it is very rare.

That was more than my round-trip flight to Sydney -- and connecting flight to Cairns . . .

That cv. is a beauty but ouch. At least he's giving the $ to charity. I'd horde every cent for my poor little self.

I'd have a little money left over from the vet bill I just had on 1 of our cats.

One of the perks of having learned patience,
lower prices! :-D

Ok... that's now been beaten by this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cephalotus-fo...arden_PlantsSeedsBulbs_JN?hash=item3a5a054e43

£1,220GBP = $1,885USD<table class="XEtbl_sub" width="100%" align="center" border="0" cellpadding="1" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr><td class="XEenlarge" width="45%" align="right">

I know people are willing to spend great sums of money on different things, but I draw the line here... I would never spend that much on any plant. Better to put it into savings and buy a more common ceph :)

I would like to take this opportunity to express my distaste for cepholotus. Thank you, that is all.

Now you're supposed to say...

I don't have any issues with people who have the money spending it on whatever they want. Heck - it's their money after all ....

This price is more curious than the one for 'Eden Black'. Here the plant itself is small and unremarkable (it's trait is 'clumping' - they all do that!!) and it's a small division besides! It might be one of the parents of 'Eden Black' - that possibility is the cause for this price??

What am I missing here?

sucker born every minute

to the genius who paid >1000 pounds for a months-old ceph cutting: i have the best investment!!! you simply can not pass it up! for the low low price of $10K you can be the proud owner of a very rare cultivar of n ventricosa, thought to be the much sought after reddish clone.

Hah! I have a color-changing green-ish alata! It will grow all green, up until the moment you agree to trade cuttings, and then the little bugger will go bronzy with red peristomes. Only 1K, a steal!

Eeeouch! That thing went high! And it's such a teeny plant.. But hey props to the guy who sold it. He's laughing all the way to the bank now.

wow I felt like a **** having spent $50 on a hummers giant a year or so back that now has mould on it and looks real sick, stupid cephs. Its the old rule the most expensive plants are always the slowest growing sicklest plants in your collection.

ps.
Never repot a healthy looking ceph.
