Introducing my 12-year old Giant "Red Hummer" Cephalotus

This is a very mature plant that I recently purchased from a private collector. I'm pleased to meet the community. Enjoy the pictures.

    my thoughts exactly o.o
unless the original owner trimmed a lot of old growth out and took several cuttings, there should be a LOT more to that plant...

Hello and welcome to Terraforums. Thanks for sharing your photos.

Snide comments aside, I think what we are looking at here is a cutting from a plant that is/was 12 years old. The small juvenile pitchers with the domed mostly translucent hoods are an indication that this is fairly young plant with a few years to go before flowering. Perhaps a slight case of misrepresentation from the source of the plant question?

Which raises the question what is the age of a clone? Say for instance you have a division or clone of Bob Ziemer's 1955 Venus Flytrap - is your clone 55+ years old (at the time of this writing) or only as old as when the division or cutting struck? If Bob's flytrap divided naturally are both division considered the same age, or one older than the other? How do you determine which is the original plant and which is the clone? Or does the original plant no longer exist except as clones of the original?
