Ooooh, nice bog! Thanks for sharing the pics!

Nice findings Ryan! Looks like they are coming out in the tons around the area. I got to get up there!

Cool LUCKY! What state do you live in? One day i want to go South about 60 miles to go see some Bogs where i am Pings, Drosera, and Sarracenia. (I live in middle Ga)

i live in northern ny the Adirondack Mountains, we have many utrics. , some dews and sarrs.

DANG!! Nice find.. Couldn't imagine seeing all of those in person. I'm yet to see wild sarrs, or even a sarr flower. :-(

Same here LUCKY!

I love wild pics.

Oh man, stunning! Must've been a thrill to see them in the wild! Thanks for sharing :)

it was other than the fact there is still knee deep snow in spots and i fell in a beaver hole, which was waist deep so i was wet and cold but it was worth it.

Love the fact that some Labrador Tea (Ledum groenlandicum) was growing right next to S. pupurea, I'd like to find some too!

If you never tasted Labrador tea, you should! Just take a leaf and chew it, it tastes something like a blend of spices with a little cinnamon I guess...it is the plant with the downward leaves and elongate, make sure they have a wooly, beige or suede-like underside of the leaf and there it is!
This has to be the best comfort beverage you can make in the wild, a hot cup full of those leaves along with pine needles, hmmmmmmm!

Oooo wild Sarracenia! That's cool. I wish I could find those. It's interesting that Sarracenia don't really make it west of the Rocky Mts...

It should also be noted that, like anything, you should not consume it in excess because it can have potentially toxic effects if you drink too much of it. Also, Bog Laurel looks quite similar and is down-right poisonous. Make sure you know how to identify and also make sure you take it easy!

Chewing on a leaf is pretty tasty, though. It's good stuff!
