Thanks guys.. Yeah, I cant WAIT to expand.. A greenhouse is planned, definitely at least a small 4-6ft one for seedlings.. and having a couple 8ft water tables instead of all these little trays would be amazing.. Im pretty sure i'll be doing that.. Just need to go buy supplies and get it set up. Lots and Lots more room then before..

Everything looks awesome ! Gonna be a good year to make some killer hybrids.

New sarrs I picked up yesterday while hopping around Seattle nurseries/stores.

Top is S. flava maxima x S. purp burkii/rosea, to the right of it is S. alata x purp heterophylla, all the way to the left is oreophila x purp heterophylla. I cant wait for these guys to grow out more of these awesome pitchers.

Where in the hell do you find shops or nurseries that sell Sarrs that look like that?

How in the hell do you find nurseries and shops that carry Sarrs that look like that? I occasionally will find a burnt up flava or alata. Good going Brie.

Well, those are all plants produced and distributed to retail stores by Jerry Addington/Courting Frogs Nursery... He's a wholesale nursery and sells to all of the local retail places.. Most nurseries in the Seattle/Western Wa area have a little corner of CPs all from him. He makes some killer plants. And the fact that the 2.5" pot size plants are typically only 5-8 bucks at these places cant be beat either. LOL.

You're killin me Brie! I can find lots of oddball stuff, but no CP's, nothing like what you have there. Killer plants at a great price. That little corner should extend all the way down to So Cal.

  • #88
Hey, least you have tons of awesome places and growers in Cali...

  • #89
Yes we do, no doubt about that, but it's different. There is something to be said of cruising the locals for CP's like I used to do for Herps.

  • #90
Its really only like... 4 places... Around Seattle.. So not like we have a TON or anything..

  • #91
4 vs 0......You Win. LOL

Made my first trip of the year to Jerry Addington's place.. He never ceases to amaze me with the quality plants he produces, and how awesome he is.. I got to pick through his zillions of seedlings and grab some for myself.. As well as picked up some of others ive been wanting.. Heres some quick and dirty pics that I snapped..

The nifty seedlings I picked out:

And the other guys...

Veinless purp. He's discovered that when he does a particular cross of purps, he gets alot of veinless ones out of it.. Pretty cool.

Unknown parentage on these two, but Jerry figured they're probably flava rugelli x purp het or something of that nature. So just a green Catesbaei.

Your picked up some great plants Brie

  • #97
So many amazing plants, I'm super jelly! I was out in Seattle in January, I wish I knew about these growers to at least make a visit. Sigh. Do you have any updates on the Reptilian Rose from when the thread started?

I'm also getting hit by the Sarracenia bug (although much slower) and planning a 6'x8' greenhouse project :D

Love your plants! The veinless purpurea is stunning!

Jerry's plants were incredible! It was interesting to learn that he has them soaking in a very weak fertilizer solution at all times.

Nice to see you there, too. Too bad we were only able to stay for 90 minutes!

Brie, something tells me you were the proverbial kid-in-a-candy-store! lol
