Them's some perty plants! I will have to try helis some day. What makes this specie your fave?
My Grow/Want Lists
-The horticulturalist formerly known as Shortbus-
It is a very robust species and gets massive, plus it looks incredible.
I do not grow mine on a windowsill because it gets way to hot in the summer. However I know some people who grow helis on windowsills in milder climates. That nutans looks very happy, and I love the ceph in the background.
Nice photos and great growing (*golf clap*). I grow my heli in the basement in a humid terrarium. I only have one, H. minor but it's growing fairly fast and is sending up two new pitchers which I'm excited about.
here's some pics:
these are some pretty cool closeups of the dewdrops in the unopened pitchers:
and finally a shot down the pitcher:
This question goes to Heli and Biozest:
So if not grown in the widowsill (Heli) and grown in the basement (BioZest), why type of lights do you have them under?
Mine get supplimental lighting from two 32W T8s. Otherwise its filtered sun at best through the dinning room window. Both of your plants look so healthy! Good work!
I use 8 T5HO lights, 6500K
@jeff: judging by your photos, yours look pretty amazing yourself. it's difficult to color nutans the way you did.
@heli: your folliculata is looking amazing. coloring pretty nice--my purpurescens sports the same colorations slightly.
That's a great looking folliculata, Heli. Mine is the slowest growing plant I have - even slower than my N. rajah.
One day it will get there...
