Sorry--just wanted to bring it to attention once more that my earlier recommendation about the use of Roundup is inappropriate in your situation. Even though I recommended painting rather than spraying, Roundup can still be be dangerous to native vegetation. Phil Sheridan is absolutely correct that the best course of action is prescribed burning and mechanical (not chemical clearing). That was shortsighted on my behalf.
