I am no sure how seasons compare, but I have grown flava outside in a boggarden in Scotland with temp down to -15C. they survive but do not thrive, mainly due to shortcool summers. as long as u have lots of warmth & sun in summer they should do well.
I think that if you can get one sar to survive in your bog, you can get them all... as far as I know, most differences in sars, are cosmetic, I am not saying ALL of them are... but a lot of them are... I would go ahead and experiment!

I have found many of the species quite different. S.purp ssp. purp grows up into Canada and is therefore the most hardy and will survive almost any winter, as will Darlingtonia. some of the others are much more fussy. S.purp.ssp venosa is not as hardy and a bit prone to winter rot. I find leucophylla and minor need a really long, hot summer to do well or they just produce spindly growth which gets smaller year on year. flava is tough, but again needs warmth & sun to do well, and it is very susceptible to fungus. i find the summer temps more critical than the winter ones, the more sun & warmth the better!
Thanks garden o fenden. I have alot of S.pur.ssp.pur in my outdoor bog so Iwill expeiriment with them. By the way what does ssp. mean in sarracenia species along with any other's. Thanks Nep.G.
I could be wrong, but I think it might be Sub Species, as there are at lest two types of purpera that I know of... maybe that is it.. I could be wrong...
