Kate

Far too old to grow up now.
Just wanted to share my leuco seeds are finally sprouting.

How long did it take? My Leucy seeds have just been sitting there for months.

It's been about 3 weeks since I sowed them.

Kate, good job and glad to hear that they are sproughting.

keep the soil mix soaking wet and give them plenty of light

Thanks George.

Great to hear! I will be planting my S. leucophylla seed next month.

Are you going to post some photos?

Planing pics as soon as I figure out this dang camera!!!! I can't seem to get it to focus on such tiny little things... I will thought!!! lol

My experience with seeds has been that they sprout in about 3 weeks after having had 4 weeks of wet cold. NOW, I also have them under a 250 watt metal halide light that keeps them nice and warm. Heat is the trick and on top of the medium.

Kate,
i have extra flava seed if you would like some.

Oh, yes please Sarrac!

Ironically I was just reading up on flava and thinking "I have to get some of these!"

lol

*edit* Thought I should add some info on what I did.
4 weeks stratification in the fridge wrapped in damp papertowel.

Sown on peat/perilite mix since I can't seem to get ahold of any spagnum.

Placed pots in a large plastic bag set on a sunny shelf in the gazebo, where they got about 5 hours of direct sun per day.

Germination took 3 weeks exactly.

This page shows my S. flava seedlings. I need to update the photos as they are much larger now. However, it might be helpfull.

Nick I've been meaning to ask you, what kind of camera do you use?

I am using an Epson 650 with Tiffin Close up lenses 10+ and 7+. The camera is no longer made.
