Tamlin and Spectabilis73- I hesitate to say who I bought it from. I don't want any other people to have the same bad experience I did... I bought it from a person and as far as I know he doesn't have a company.. he just sells plants on the side. When I told him the plants arrived rotted he said to try the cutting and when I told him the cutting turned black as well he dissapeared and hasn't contacted me since. I fail to see why not informing people is the way to go. There are no excuses retailer or individual for not shipping healthy plants and making sure they arrive healthy and if something should happen then to make amends. Sometimes you lose money when something happens and you have to replace plants. That is the way it goes. If they can't understand that and accept it then they shouldn't be selling in the first place. If they can't be replaced then at least give a refund on the purchase. We all have occasional problems, what is more troubling about it is not that the plant arrived dead.. that happens. But that it won't be replaced or refunded. This speaks volumes about an individual and how they feel about about their customers and fellow growers and others in general.

If someone posted that they got a plant and it arrived dead I would perhaps hesitate to order unless it was something I was really after. But to know ahead of time that it was at my own risk and they don't have a good record for shipping healthy plants I would think twice. On the other hand to know someone received a plant in poor shape and the plant was rapidly replaced or a refund made or something similiar. I would feel much calmer about ordering from them myself.

Sounds to me like it was someone here that was a member of PFT. And you don't want others to know. Personally I don't see how protecting one individual from embaressment outweighs protecting a whole lot of individuals from perhaps having a problem and throwing their hard earned money away.

If this was indeed a member here and your reading this.. shame on you for not rectifying the situation.

A highly irritated,
Tony

You make a very good point Tony. I was trying to give the guy time to respond.. just in case. I guess if he was interested in making things right he would have said so in his first reply about the plants. When I told him they were rotted the only thing he said is "let me know if the cutting works" and then hasn't responded to any e-mail since. I bought the plants from Douglas Bertelsen, an ICPS Listserv member. He might be a member of PFT too.. I don't know. Along with the e-mails I have posted on 2 different boards and the listserv about this and still haven't seen a reply from him.

Thank you for the information! I agree with Tony: such matters are a very valid topic. There is after all a right way and a wrong way to do business, and if money changed hands, it is business. I have never yet encountered a commercial establishment that refused to make things right. It just isn't done!

I didn't realize Tony sold Cephalotus. My future referrals will be to him, based on his ethical stance on this issue.

Hey Tamlin,

I have just reciently bought an order of Ceph, and i had recieved 3 of them, and i bought another little guy from another good freind of minre, so that leaves me with 3 to many cephs, and i would be more than happy to replace it for you. as for i know you probably do not have much for trade i can give it to you for SASE. Or it is up to you if you want to trade anythign for it.. but the plant is just about a dime in radius, a seedling no doubt.. Tell me what you think?

PoopHead,
Isn't it purplesundew who said that her cephalotus died?

Purplesundew,
The ceph. that I mentioned had rotted 2 days upon arrival was also from Douglas Bertelsen The shipping was too wet.
I received it in a trade along with other sundews. From my experience, he does not check the email on a daily basis and that is possilbly why he has not responded. Although the ceph did not make it, I received some nice droseras and couple days later received another ceph.(from a different grower), so I was content.

All i want to do here is offer the love of Cp's to another fellow Cp Grower who had the misfortune of a death of a remarkable species of Cp. If for some reason this plant will not make it... i will not be hurt nor will i really care... and also, even though who ever this person may have been who shipped these plants... there is a saying that is called "**** happens" and sometime even i, pack things a bit to damp, and induces water rot... maybe on accident he packed the plants just a bit to wet... but back to the main point of conversation, Bonnie i presume unless she stated other wise, most likely paid a sum of money for this plant... and i know how it feels to loose an amount of money that a plant of that stature can go for... and so i just offered a plant that i had extra of to Bonnie as a gift... i really didnt understand what you ment, when you quoted bonnie.. but oh well no hard feelings i just like to see people not because when people are they get and when people are angry it makes me and then when im angry i cant make people and when people are not happy i get and so one... Oh boy.. I DO NOT SMOKE, INJECT, OR SNORT ANY OF MY PLANTS!!! its just go with my happy theory equation + = + =
