Hi,
I'm not from the UK !
(than my English would surely be better ;o) )
I live in the South of Germany...
I think that the best way to grow Nepenthes in temperate climates is a greenhouse (if you can prevent it from overheeting during summer try highland plants, if you are rich and heating costs doesn't matter than try lowland plants, which also grow faster)
If you are poor (as I am ;o) ) than the other way is a terrarium (with additional lights, at least during winter).
Lowland nepenthes grow very fast (under the right conditions), so your terrarium will always be too small.
I have only some years experience with some simple spezies and hybrids, I started cultivating my higland plants about 9 months ago...
I placd my terrarium in a cool room (15-17°C / ~60F) at an east facing window and give them (now) 12 hours of artificial lightning.
using a 70W high-pressure-sodium-lamp, which is bright enough that even Helimphora seems to set seed !
The Heliamphora are under the lamp, the Nepenthes at the sides...
I heat the terrarium to 25°C during the day and let the temperature drop.
My small highland plants seem to grow well except rajah which is really slow and aristolochioides which is almost dying

And don't have "true" lowlanders like bicalcarata and all of my lowland plants can grow under intermediate conditions, but they are slow growing, the N. truncata builds about 1 pitcher in 5 months.
i think they would be fatsre if temperature would raise, but I only have one terrarium and slow growing need not be a disadvantage if the plant loks nice.
I water the plants usually once a week from above and I don't use the tray system, except for N. mirrabilis.
humidity is high enough for N. hamata so it should suit every other Nepenthes spezies, too.
I will tranform my terrarium into a pottet landscape terrarium this spring...
