    Thumbs down

    Hello everyone,

This is my 1st attempt at stratifying Sarr seeds, and after 3 weeks a portion of seed show signs of mold growth on them. Here are some details:

    Seed collected in August 2004
Stratified in small plastic ziplock bags
In each bag is a portion of live sphagnum moss
Moisture level is enough to notice condensation on inside of bag
    Stored in the fridge
Moss is green and looks healthy
... basically, followed ICPS recommendations to the letter

Mold is not noticed anywhere else in the bags except on the seeds themselves.

    HELP!

    Homer,
I don't think it is a big issue. Here are some suggestions. Roll the moss and seeds and disrupt the mold and leave in the fridge. Take them out and let them dry out to kill the mold and put them back. Natural stratifacation would have tempature flucatations anyway or ignore it and after four weeks bring them out and sow them. I have had mold before and mine did just fine. If for some reason them don't germinate, let me know and I will send you some seeds so you can try again. Here is how I grow my seeds.

    Live Spag?
idk but that is prob y it was infested, The Live LFS has lots of spores on it.
I suggest using steril peat, or fairly clean, sterilized LFS (Not Live)
It worked wonders for me (the LFS)
    Ill post pics

I use wet paper towels wrapped in foil. No problems with mould and no need to fish seeds out from blobs of moss.
