Or maybe your plants are recoperating from stress possibly relating from your growing conditions or just a harsh dormacy and can't make a pitcher from lack of energy?
S. purpurea rosea flower (the typical rose pink color)
S. leucophylla flower
It is interesting to note that two different plants of the same hybrid (rubra x alata= S. ahlesii) can have different flower colors.
S. ahlesii #1 has a green/yellow flower - attributed to the alata parent.
S. ahlesii #2 Citronelle Alabama, Mobile Cnty has a red flower (from the rubra parent)
The same flower color variation can be seen in our two different S. moorei hybrids (leucophylla x flava).
S. moorei #1 has red/pink colored flowers (from the leuco parent)
S. moorei #2 has yellow/green flowers (from the flava parent).
Here is a shot of the traps of our moorei #2 just opening.
S. catesbaei flower
Here is a beetle on our Hurricane Creek leucophylla
Some 1 yr. old seedlings that are showing some promise, color-wise. They're (alata x leucophylla) x flava rubricorpora. I think I'm going to have to break down and thin them out this year.
Some two-year-old unknown seedlings. I like the nectar oozing on the biggest pitcher.
Here is a new plant I picked up from Jeremiah this weekend at the Denver Flower Show. The flower was not open as of Saturday when I bought it, but it opened up yesterday. S. oreophylla X flava.
