Hmm...whiskey barrel sounds good . I'll probably go to some of the stores around town and look. I'll post when I find something. If I used pure LFS would that be ok or would it get too waterlogged?

I just bought an 18" terrabowl and a 20" saucer from my local nursery along with 2 bags of long fiber sphangum moss for my Sarracenia. The total was about $22. It turns out that my order was lost in the mail, so it's supposed to be about three weeks before I actually get my plants. Will the summer heat in Kansas hurt the plants any? Is there anything special I should do to help them aclimate? Also should i mix perlite with the LFS?

    Hey Tony,

No way will the summer heat in Kansas hurt your sarrs! They'll love it, provided you keep them boggy....The only problem with that heat is that you have to keep an eye on them and not let them dry out too much.

Remember, they're native range is FULL SUN in most of the southeastern US, so you're sun isn't any different.

Never perlite in an outdoor set up. Perlirte floats, and will splash out and all over everything. Straight Peat Moss will work just fine. No sand, and nothing unnatural like perlite! LFS is also a great base, but forget the perlite.
