Byblis liniflora roots

This may sound like an odd question, but I have 5 B. liniflora plants flourishing and flowering in a shallow plastic tray (~2" deep), under swamplike conditions, with sand & peat, topdressed with live LFS, open tray, at a SW window sill. Knowing that they have a more developed root system, I am wondering just where their roots are. I'm not going to disturb their roots, but do you think they hit bottom and have continued horizontally? Or since their roots were never challenged to go deeper, is their development far less extensive?
