OK. For anyone not familiar with this auction, we've held an on-line auction at TerraForums for the last 2 years to benefit NASC. We've had great donations, from common plants to rare plants and everything in between. There also have been some cool non-plant offerings. Bidding was lively and lots of people won some really great things. It was a lot of FUN!

The auction proceeds go to benefit the North American Sarracenia Conservancy for operating expenses which include anything from purchasing plant tags for the plants in the program to legal fees to helping with future plant rescues where funding is needed.

And this year we have a special project. NASC is going to be donating a portion of our proceeds to Botanique. Rob Sacilotto in Stanardsville, VA has one of the largest collections of Sarracenia in this country. He is having difficulty maintaining his operation. We are hoping that by partnering with Rob/Botanique, we can keep his important collection safe. We cannot lose this plant material. This is what NASC is all about...preserving the diversity of Sarracenia before we lose it to habitat destruction and poaching.

More detailed rules will be posted soon, but how the auction works is:

A person who is donating an item will create a topic in the Auction Forum (once its opened on June 3rd). All bidding is done by posting a reply to that topic with your bid. (There are bid increments to keep things from getting silly.) You can bid as often as you like. Don't get upset if you get outbid. The object of this auction is to raise money. Hopefully any goods that you win will just be gravy!

Be creative...you can donate anything. We've had plants, seeds, cuttings, food, services, photos, artwork, books, games, DVDs...and more. There is no plant too common or items too small. Ten items that sell for $1 is $10. It adds up.

We do ask that if you choose to participate, to please follow the rules and hold up your end of the bargain whether it be paying promptly or shipping promptly to complete the transaction.

SO...be looking over your "stuff" for any extra you'd like to donate. You can even buy a plant locally and offer it up if you think you don't have any personal items to list. Remember there might be something you can get in your area that someone else can't get.

I thank you in advance for your concern for the future of Sarracenia on our planet and for your participation in this auction.

Most of all...HAVE FUN!!

The auction is nearing...please consider taking the time to donate an item. The more "stuff" we have, the more variety...the more fun the auction is.

I thank you in advance for helping the NASC advance towards its goal!
