Heliamphora tatei...

I just read a bit about H. Tatei, as I found a big one for sale... the article said they can grow up to like 10-12 feet tall pitchers!!!
Is this true, i mean thats just friggin HUGE!!!

I think the article is mistaken.. H. tatei will form a woody stem which can get fairly tall if supported.
 
Ah well that does explain a few things... Do they grow fast?
 
do you mean does it 'climb' fast?  no.. after several years on my bigger plants they look like the day I potted them.

Any Heliamphora is also capable of (rapidly) elongating it's stem if it gets shaded or overgrown by other plants.
 
Phew! So i can get one without it filling my apartment by next saturday then.

You do not have to worry about Heliamphora taking over anything. (Well, maybe your bank account). I have had some Heliamphora plants for 3 years that are still only an inch tall.
