Isn't viagra a wonderful drug? You can have your head bitten off and STILL maintain and erection.

Jeez...

"During mating the smaller male often jumps on the back of the larger female. Miscalculating the jump may mean the male becomes a meal. If the jump was successful, the pair mate and during copulation the female may turn and devour the male's head. The body of the male is capable of completing the mating, when complete the female will finish eating the male."
I have seen it first hand when I was a noob at keeping mantids... it's not a pretty picture...

its beacause all the nerves for controlling the body are in the males head, so when the female rip's off his head, his body is still doing because his head hasent told him to stop yet! in this way the female ensures fertilization. fun isent it?

I wonder if that works with humans too....

Yeah, I caught one at school in October when we had a random early snow. I put it in an outside stairwell that nobody uses to shield it from the snow and came back three hours after school and found it. Unfortunately though, I sprayed too much water in it's temporary cage and it smelled REALLY bad so I put it under a light to find it dead a few hours later. Oh, well, it ate left over bugs from my newt, snake, and lizards.
